About Scott

scott messenger, writer, runner, musician, edmonton

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, where I write and edit stories for print and online publications. My work has appeared in The Guardian, Canadian Geographic and newspapers across Canada.

NAIT is kind enough to employ me full time as a communications specialist and an editor of techlife, the polytechnic’s magazine. I’m also senior editor and music columnist at Eighteen Bridges, a national magazine focused on narrative journalism.

I take solace in music and exercise. Hinterlands is my band and running is my sport (thanks go to Jody Bailey for the photo on my homepage.) I’d be a lost soul without my wife and two little girls.

My first book, on Alberta’s craft beer industry, will be published by TouchWood Editions in spring 2020.
